FAITH FORMATION
2008-2009
St. Gabriel Catholic Church provides Faith Formation classes for children in Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Classes are offered Sundays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. and from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (Kindergarten classes are not held Sundays at 6:30 p.m.) Christian Initiation of Children classes are offered Sundays at 3:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. for children beyond 2nd grade who have not received the sacraments of 1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist. The CIC program requires two years of study and students receive the sacraments in the spring of the second year. A CIC program for teens will be offered Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Pre-registration for all Faith Formation classes is required. Registration forms are available in the reception area on the 3rd floor of the Ministry Center. A fee of $65 per student ($130 maximum per family) is required to complete the registration process. DROP OFF & PICK UP
Students in grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade must be picked up in the classroom at the end of class. Students in these grade levels will not be taken to carpool for pick up. Students in grades 3 through 8 can be picked up at their classrooms or at carpool. Children waiting in the carpool will be required to remain in the Parish Center entry area until picked up by a parent or other adult. Children will not be allowed to wait for pick up in any other area of the campus. DO NOT PLAN TO MEET YOUR CHILD AFTER FAITH FORMATION CLASS AT ANY LOCATION OTHER THAN THE ENTRY TO THE PARISH CENTER.
CARPOOL DRIVERS are asked to observe all driving instructions and to use extreme care while in the parking lot, in order to avoid collisions with child and adult pedestrians, as well as other vehicles. Any carpool driver who repeatedly disregards safety practices will be required to pick up their child at the classroom.
In case of inclement weather, St. Gabriel will issue notice of class cancellations through WBT-TV, Channel 3 (Warner Cable Channel 2), WSOC-TV, Channel 9 (Warner Cable Channel 4), WCNC-TV, Channel 36 (Warner Cable Channel 6), and WBT Radio, 1110 AM and 99.3 FM. Please tune into these stations for information if there is snow, ice or other emergency conditions that would make driving to or from class hazardous. There will also be a recording on the Faith Development Center main phone number, 704-366-2738, regarding class cancellations. The same recorded information will be available by calling 704-362-5047, ext. 210, 219 and/or 228. On Wednesdays, St. Gabriel Faith Formation will follow CMS practices, regarding weather-related class cancellations.
